"Above Rock"

“Above Rock” was photographed by Lucas Farmer at age 5. Lucas was standing on top of a rock looking down at the river on a frosty afternoon. I just love how he captured such a beautiful image of the water rushing through the rocks and ice. The glittering reflections are amazing!

zeva - what wonderful work you are doing. I have given kids my camera to play with and I am delighted to see them focus in on things I never would have stoped to look at in nature.

Mary Lewis - I asked my class of first graders what this photo made them think of and these were some of their responses: Dylan-It made me think of the rivers. Matthew-It makes me think of outside right now because it is snowing outside in the photo. Abigail-It makes me think of rivers and lakes and beauty and outdoors and moss and fresh air and water that we drink. Jasmine-It makes me think of the world and a frosty, frosty morning. Bobby-It made me think of beautiful rivers and rocks. Rusty-I think the river was cool. Lexi-It made me think of the rivers and it made me think of the world. Taber-It made me think of Mother Nature and a frosty morning in the snow. Tori-It makes me think it is summer and fall. Cierra-I think that the snow was by the river that almost made me cry. It feels sad to me. Austin-It makes me think of Lake Powell when I look down from a hill into a river. Khloe-It made me think about the snow. Sam-It makes me think of rivers and I think it is cool. Layla-It makes me think of snow on the mountains.

The Great Snowball

The Great Snowball

“The Great Snowball” was photographed by AJ Adams, age 7.
“I was snowshoeing with my mom, dad and sisters when I made this snowball. It was so round and smooth and the best snowball I made in my entire life that I just had to take a picture of it. Now it will never melt and I can have it forever.”

Autumn Imagery / October & November Photo Workshops

Enjoy the amazing imagery created by kids during our October and November photo workshops, where we explored nature and captured its beauty!

A Walk Into Nature

What an amazing experience I had with Connor, Samantha, Jenny and Ashley. Short hikes into nature and sharing the beauty
of it all was a true inspiration. I enjoyed showing these kids camera use and guiding them through their expressions of creativity.
The imagery they captured and their excitement was heart warming.

Enjoy their photographic journey!

Leslee Brandt - WOW! These kids are amazing. The teaching that you provided them gave us such wonderful pictures. Artistic express is very hard to teach, but you have been able to do that. Do you teach adults or are we too set in our ways?!? ;) In all seriousness, Garret said when he worked on high school yearbook as a photographer he couldn't take pictures this good. Well done!

Dee Morris Gibson - Fantastic shots!! I am really quite impressed! The way these children visualize there shots is amazing!! Love them! Keep up the good work, Cathy! =)

Debbie Bruell - I loved looking at these photos. They made me feel like I was right there with you -- and they made me want to join you on your next walk through the woods! What a wonderful way to enjoy the world around you and share that joy with others. Debbie

“Late Start Monday” Photo Workshops

Maria Armstrong - Jesse, this is a great photo! You caught the texture and the lines of the water superbly. Great job!

Christopher Joslin - A beautiful photograph and what a wonderful description. Great job!

Angela Buffo - From Ms. Buffo's class - the worm picture: You can see the worm so close up! It's pretty, and not too disturbing. It makes us want to go look for dead worms! The angle of the picture is great. You could really see the individual grains of sand in the cement!
